Dark Grey: Part 1 – Disconnected

The waves of the moonlight has beamed over such a great distance, as it passes through the window and fell upon the empty wall. Still, it did not attract her. All she can see is darkness ahead of her. The dark of night absent the stars and moon, which are actually not absent, has engulfed her. Such thick blackness that repels light but showers upon her mind and heart, and saps through her eyes and drops as tears upon her face.

Seeing absent light is not unlike breathing absent air. It is not unlike feeling absent touch. The tear upon cheek has dried long ago, yet one could visibly see the marks of what used to be water and salt. If only anyone bothered to look.

But there was no light.

The skin which’s brightness and glory once used to compete against that moonlight, now resembles more the moon itself: dull, grey, and rough. One who understands would have known that moonlight is not from the moon. Absent the sun, the moon beams nothing. Such is true for her. She has lost her sun, and therefore her light as well.

When it all ended, all she could do is ask ‘why’ and ‘how’. But after the moon revolved around the earth a few times, and the earth revolved around the sun a few times, questions ceased as the universe responded them in a vacuum. Some realize too late that some have no rights to inquire.

For those who do, they also realize that ‘knowledge’ has always been elusive. The only thing we do ever know is that we don’t.

For example, nobody knew there was a tear on her cheek. Neither did she.
